Individual Depth Therapy for Relational Concerns Near Austin, TX
Many people move through life with competence and stability yet feel uncertain or muted in their relational world. This can show up as ambivalence in partnership, anxiety around closeness, difficulty expressing desire or a quiet sense of disconnect. Individual therapy can offer space to explore these patterns with care.
I provide online therapy for adults in Austin and throughout Texas. I work with individuals who are curious about how identity, intimacy, meaning and choice unfold in their relational life. For many, this work is less about changing another person and more about understanding how they have been living and what they are longing for.
People often seek this work when they notice:
• Disconnection or loneliness within partnership
• Shutdown or overfunctioning in intimacy
• Difficulty naming needs or limits
• Fear of being too much or not enough
• A sense of performing rather than relating
These experiences are not viewed as deficiencies to correct. They are treated as meaningful signals that deserve attention.
How This Work Unfolds
My approach is grounded in Existential psychology and philosophy. I integrate Stoic thought, attachment theory, mindfulness and Jung’s concept of the shadow. The focus is on how you make meaning, how you relate to your inner world and how history influences the present.
We take time to trace patterns of protection. We explore desire, fear, identity and choice. The pace is steady and reflective so that new understanding can emerge without force. This is not skills training. It is depth-oriented work concerned with coherence and authenticity.
As clarity develops, many clients find they can name what they feel and want with more steadiness and live in ways that feel more congruent.
Intimacy, Desire and the Self
Intimacy involves recognition, safety, agency and room to remain oneself in the presence of another. Desire is shaped by history, physiology and meaning. Life stress, betrayal, trauma or exhaustion can alter how intimacy is experienced. Therapy provides space to look at these experiences quietly without rushing decisions.
This approach tends to resonate with individuals who are stable enough for reflection and who sense that something in their relational life is asking to be understood rather than managed.
Who This Is For
I work with adults navigating relational ambivalence, shutdown in intimacy, misalignment in desire, betrayal, boundary confusion, loneliness or the erosion of emotional connection. Clients arrive with many relational structures and orientations. When trauma is present, we move slowly and at a pace that feels manageable.
